Photoresponsive catalysts

Water oxidation is a key reaction in artificial photosynthesis, in which water is oxidized to dioxygen via a four-electron process. The development of molecular water oxidation catalysts has seen much progress. However, in most cases, these reactions have been investigated under optimal conditions. To achieve artificial photosynthesis in our environment under changing light intensity and temperature, stimuli-responsive water oxidation catalysts are needed. We recently investigated a multi-stimuli-responsive water oxidation catalyst (M, Hirahara et al., Chem. Commun., 2020).
